Value Bordeaux |
|
 |
The term Value Bordeaux may
strike some readers as an
oxymoron. It is true that
many of the great, rare wines
of Bordeaux sell at very high
prices. But there is another,
less well known category of
Bordeaux wines that provides
exceptional value.
While Richard’s is known for
its offering of the great
chateaux and estate wines of
France, California and Italy,
we take special pride in
searching the wine regions of
the world for very good wines
that we can offer our
customers at prices below $40
per bottle.
We invite you to join us in
enjoying these
high-value wines from the
Bordeaux region of France,
where fine red wines have been
made for centuries using the
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and
Cabernet Franc grapes.
Bordeaux also makes nice,
soft, dry white wines, mostly
from the Sauvingon Blanc
grape.
You may be surprised by these
Value Bordeaux wines. We are
confident you will be
pleased.

| Chateau Puygueraud 2006 Cotes de Francs |
Considered the finest winery in the Cotes de Francs appellation, the smallest in Bordeaux. Owned by the Thienport Family, of Vieux Chateau Certan fame, they have turned this once unknown chateau in to an overachiever. A blend of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Malbec. It offers a good deep red color in the glass. Very ripe aromas of black cherry and chocolate. Suave, juicy and sweet, with lovely palate presence and inner-mouth aromatic character. Tannins are ripe and sweet. |

| Chateau Reignac 2005 Cuvee Speciale |
Another top-notch effort from the home property of the brilliant Yves Vatelot, Reignac’s 2005 has a dense ruby/purple color and notes of graphite, black currant, some sweet cherries, and spice box. It is a medium to full-bodied wine with beautiful concentration, decent acidity, and ripe tannin. Despite its humble appellation, this is a very serious wine that is qualitatively up there with some of the better classified growths of the Medoc. It should drink beautifully for 8-10 years. A sleeper of the vintage! |

| Winemakers Collection Michel Rolland Cuvee No. 1 2005 Medoc |
Michel Rolland was fortunate to be chosen in 2005 as his first vintage for this collection since this is an exceptional vintage. It boasts classic richness, deep, smoky, black currant and sweet cherry fruit, a gorgeously opulent texture, decent acidity, high but sweet tannin, and a seamless, full-throttle mouth feel. This stunning effort competes with some of Bordeaux’s finest wines. It should age effortlessly for 15 or more years. |
